Medico’s presentation
Medico S.p.A. was founded in 1973 and it still is a private and indipendent firm. Since more than 30 years it works in cardio-stimulation field with the aim to guarantee to physicians and patients an high level standard of technology.
The pioneer spirit of the company in the development of new technologies was clear since the 80’s when it revolutionized the stimulation world with the introduction of single-lead VDD pacing with 3 cm atrial floating dipole.
With the ambition to give to the physicians the suitable tools for optimize the therapy for every single patient, in the last years the firm was engaged in the development of an integrated system for the measurement of TVI (Trans Valvular Impedance), a impedance signal measured between right atrium and ventricle by means of standard electrodes connected to a pacemaker.
This signal can provide important information about mechanical function of the heart. In particular, thanks to TVI, it is possible to monitor the hemodynamic performance of the patient in terms of preload and stroke volume, therefore it is possible to evaluate the stability or the positive or negative variation of the pump function of the heart.
This innovative system is available in all pacemakers of the Sophňs and Helios family and allows a continuous feedback of the effectiveness of the device’s programming and of the pharmacological therapy.
In addition to this important feature there are other applications based on the TVI concept as ejection check after ventricular pacing and sensing, with automatic algorithms for adjustment in pacing energy, in case of an ineffective stimulus, and for safety pacing, in case of a ventricular oversensing.

1985: First programmable VDD pacemaker.
1997: First rate responsive pacemaker with double slope.
2005: First pacemaker with hemodynamic sensor based on TVI.
2007: First triple-chamber pacemaker provided with TVI sensor(Helios300).
2008: New dual-chamber Sophos models.
2009: New single-chamber pacemakers (Mythos, Easy Plus).

Factories and offices
Medico in Italy, close to Padova and Venezia, occupies a number of building including two factories for Marketing & Sales Departments, Production of implantable devices (pacemaker and catheters) and external devices (programmators, PSA and instrumentation for cruent and non cruent electrophysiological studies).
Moreover, Medico signed a close collaboration agreement with a company from Czech Republic in the city Valaske Mezerici, where the workers with previous experience in implantable catheters production, assemble the mechanical part for the production of Medico's catheters.
In Rubano factory are actually working more than 120 technicians, big share of engineer, all qualified, working in the direction of the modern theories of company organization and marketing.
In Medico everyone's task is targeting the realization of an efficient product, providing a complete service to the customer, looking to his best satisfaction.

External commercial organization
Medico is present with a well qualified and capillary sales organization in the main europena nation and in Japan; furthermore it is present in some asiatic and southamerican countries.

Medico C. E. Mark Certification
All Medico Department, designing, production, Quality, post marketing surveillance, are periodically inspected by the Notified Body granting the CE Mark certification for every product after deep verification for requirements meeting, by which Medico put the CE mark over all its products which can therefore been commercialised within the euopean community countries and in all the countries which recognise the severe regulation procedure for the CE mark of medical devices.
Most of Medico products are approved in addition by the Japanese Authority as well as by other National Authorities.
Actually all the products (pacemakers, leads, and programmers) have received the CE Mark, demonstrating that Medico Research and Development, Production, Marketing and Post-Marketing Surveillance, Quality Assurance, and all the other steps of the Company activity conform with the Rules enacted by the European Community, particularly for the directive 90/385/CEE e 93/42/CEE.
